Blended learning is a course design approach that fundamentally restructures class hours and the course environment by integrating face-to-face and online interaction. Blended learning leverages the strengths of online and face-to-face interactions to promote student engagement and help achieve the learning goals of the course.
Practical examples will draw on an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage project that investigates the development of innovative, cloudbased teaching and learning software to enhance teacher and student learning in secondary school science. The research also involves the extension into digital mode of a successful ‘representation construction’ guided inquiry pedagogy developed by Deakin researchers over two previous ARC projects. The context of the project is a high profile national science curriculum project focused on contemporary socioscientific and technological settings of science.
This interactive master class is designed for participants of all levels of experience in blended learning and will look to provide in-depth discussion and insight in to the following:
